She hails from Honolulu, Hawaii, and inherited her passion for music from her father, Glenn Medeiros, who gained global fame with his hit, “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You,” in the ’80s. Although she is a self-proclaimed country music enthusiast, Lyric was full of nerves before her audition. Her mother, Tammy, stated that Lyric was a shy singer who hadn’t eaten anything all day due to her nervousness. Dressed in a denim jumpsuit, Lyric greeted the judges with a smile and presented them with leis, saying, “Aloha! I’m from Hawaii, and I have some leis for you.” Finally, she performed Kelsea Ballerini’s “Love Me Like You Mean It.”
Katy Perry and Luke Bryan didn’t let Lyric off the hook easily as they challenged her to step up her game. Despite flying ten hours to perform, Perry called out Lyric for playing it safe and not showing her full potential. Lyric offered to sing another song, but Perry demanded more. When Lyric suggested Carrie Underwood, it’s unclear whether she got the chance to redeem herself.

During the performance, Katy Perry encouraged Lyric to sing louder and Bryan gave her advice on making an ugly face to better convey the anger in the song. In order to help her get into character, Perry even walked over to Lyric to demonstrate how to properly express anger during a performance.
